0. Our purpose

Join your friends and explore the universe. Starship Adventure provides cosmic experiences at live events, in simulators, movies, games, and even by exploring this website. We begin in orbit around the Earth and then go far from here.

1. Our privacy philosophy

All data sharing features should be opt-in with an easy and clear way to opt-out.

This website localizes information by position, not person.

We do not attempt to determine who a visitor is. We do not collect or sell personal information. We do not run advertising trackers or behavioral profiling systems. Most features of the site work without accounts, registration, or providing personal data.

2. Information automatically processed (server operation)

Like all websites, the server must temporarily process technical information to deliver pages. This includes:

• IP address
• Date and time of request
• Requested page
• Browser type (user-agent)

These records are known as server access logs and are automatically created for security, abuse prevention, and system reliability. We do not use this information to identify visitors.

This processing occurs under legitimate interest (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)) to operate and protect the website.

3. Approximate location (estimated mode)

To display local time, sunrise, sunset, and related information, the server converts the visitor’s IP address into an approximate geographic area (usually city-level).

Important:

• This is only an estimate
• It does not reveal a home address
• It is not stored as a personal profile

The derived location is used only to calculate environmental and astronomical conditions for the current page view.

4. Precise device location (optional)

Visitors may optionally click “Use precise device location.” If permission is granted:

• The browser provides coordinates directly to the page
• Calculations occur locally in the browser
• Coordinates are not stored on our servers
• Coordinates are not shared with third parties

The site functions fully without enabling this feature.

This feature operates on explicit consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)).

5. Weather and scientific data

The site retrieves environmental and astronomical information (such as weather or solar data) from public scientific data providers.

Whenever possible:

• Requests are made by our server, not the visitor’s browser
• No personal identifying information is sent to those services

These providers only receive general server requests for scientific data.

6. Local preferences (no tracking cookies)

The site may store small settings on your device, such as time format, display units, or manually selected location.

If you use the local Join panel, the site may also store a display name and your Local Earth Dashboard permission choices on this device. This local profile is not a server account and does not identify you across devices.

These are stored using your browser’s local storage and remain on your device.

We do not use:

• Advertising cookies
• Cross-site tracking cookies
• Behavioral tracking technologies

Because these settings are strictly functional, a cookie consent banner is not required under EU ePrivacy rules.

7. Children’s privacy

Starship Adventure does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years of age. The site is educational and can be used without creating an account or providing personal data.

8. Future optional accounts

The current Join flow is a local browser profile only. Optional server accounts may be introduced in the future to support community features. If this occurs, this policy will be updated and users will be asked to opt in before providing personal information.

9. Data sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share personal information with advertisers. Limited technical information may be disclosed only when required to protect the security of the website or to comply with legal obligations.

10. International visitors

The website is accessible worldwide. By using it, you understand that operational data necessary to deliver pages may be processed in the United States.

11. Your choices

You may:

• Use the site without enabling precise location
• Manually set a location
• Disable local storage in your browser
• Stop using the site at any time
